The DCI program funded the WRPI Community Water Internship, paying undergraduate and graduate student interns to work on projects in the Santa Ana River Watershed. These projects serve people in disadvantaged communities, economically distressed areas, and underrepresented communities in the watershed through community engagement and education projects related to water. Check out the WRPI website for final reports written by previous interns and further details about the program.
As part of CWI, Community Water Interns also underwent professional development trainings and check-ins with SAWPA’s CivicSpark Water Fellows. The 2019-2020 CivicSpark Fellows were Karen Valladares (kvalladares at sawpa.org) and Bailey Lai (blai at sawpa.org).
